From 29 September 2025, Immigration New Zealand will introduce additional questions in the Job Check application. Employers will now be required to provide:

  • The reason the role is needed
  • The size of the business
  • The number of New Zealanders currently employed (for larger organisations, this may be provided as an approximation)

Including this information upfront helps ensure applications are complete, reduces the need for follow-up, and streamlines the overall process. It also provides processing staff with valuable context about the business and the genuine requirement for the role, enabling more efficient and well-informed decision-making.

Employers are encouraged to pay close attention to demonstrating the genuine need for the role, the business structure, and the sustainability of the position when submitting applications.
